Elio Motors Vanichi Magazine fashion

Founded by Paul Elio in 2008, Elio Motors seeks to provide affordable commuter transportation while also providing jobs.

As the human population swells and commuter traffic grows increasingly more congested in cities, suburbs and exurbs, many are demanding vehicles that can achieve fast speeds without taking up a lot of square footage. Yet, no one wants to compromise on comfort.

Elio Motors has been designing an answer with their P4, a 3-wheeled vehicle that’s engineered to attain a highway mileage rating of 84 mpg. The sleek commuter can seat two people in tandem. Features include power windows and doors, AC/Heat, AM/FM stereo, three airbags and a choice of seven colors. It also top speeds at 100mph and the 3-cylinder engine goes from 0 to 60 in 9.6 seconds.

Over 35,000 people have already reserved their Elio, which is set to start production in September 2015 from a former GM factory in Shreveport, Lousiana. As a special perk, early consumers will receive a 25% discount on the non-refundable reservation deposit, which can range from $100 to $1,000 at the buyer’s discretion. The total retail for the Elio starts at just $6,800 US. Additionally, the vehicle is American-made and uses 90% North American content. Manufacturing in Louisiana will also produce an additional 1500 jobs in the area.

Elio is also planning stand-alone retail centers in 60 markets across the US. They will be a complement to the brands partnership with Pep Boys, which has signed on to be the official Elio Service Center.

Those who want to reserve better hurry. The list closes on Friday, October 31.
