We all love our tech but sometimes our favorite gadgets can be an unnecessary distraction to our style aesthetics. Ringly, spearheaded by Christina Mercando, is taking on the task of crafting beautiful accessories that discreetly incorporate technology. First up is a line of rings that would have made Zsa Zsa Gabor and Elizabeth Taylor proud. These rings display a high fashion look but can linked to the wearer’s smart phone. Through the Ringly app, custom color or vibration features alert the user about texts, incoming calls and emails. So, you can be out at a noisy restaurant or have your cell buried at the bottom of your handbag and never have to worry about missing an urgent message again. Backed by First Round Capital, Andreessen Horowitz and PCH, and created by eBay and Etsy alums, the NY-start up launched in June and did pretail sales that actually exceeded their hopes of $60,000. In fact, the company reached $100,000 sales in less than 24 hours. The result is tech expansion. Mercando announced Ringly will integrate customized alerts even more apps than expected, namely Airbnb, eBay, Gilt, Hinge, Lyft, Skype,Whatsapp, and Words with Friends. These eight new apps will be supported in addition to Ringly’s initial integration of Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter,Pinterest, Facebook, Tumblr, Vine, LinkedIn, Poshmark, Tinder, and Uber. Our pick is the limited edition DIVE BAR ring in rhodium plated setting with an alluring tourmalated quartz semi-precious stone.
