Limited Edition | Vanichi Magazine 50 years ago, Carroll Shelby’s Daytona Cobra Coupe dominated the FIA World Sportscar Championship’s GT class. To celebrate, the Shelby American Cobra Daytona Coupe Series will be released in a limited run. There will be 50 cars available in either aluminum or fiberglass. Both versions will debut at California events during August 2015. Back in July 4, 1965, Shelby built six sleek Cobra Coupes that were able to compete with Ferrari and win the FIA Sports Car Championship. To this day, it’s the only time an American team has won the top prize. The aluminum models built in this special series will be fabricated according to the original blueprints. The fiberglass models will have additions like power steering and windows and air conditioning. Buyers will be able to detail the engine specifications. The base price for the fiberglass model is $179,995 and the aluminum model starts at $349,995. For an additional cost, collectors can have a 289 cubic inch aluminum motor.
